jet-lag-resizeJet Lag Prevention Protocol

It is estimated that 1.5 billion people travel by plane each year.  If you are traveling to a different time zone, you may experience jet lag.  This is a condition which results from alterations to the body's circadian rhythms resulting from rapid long-distance transmeridian (east–west or west–east) travel on a jet airplane.  Some of the symptoms of jet lag are fatigue and insomnia.  However, there are ways to prevent jet lag if you follow the below protocol.

Use the following two links together on your next flight to lessen the effects of Jet Lag:

Your 24 Hour Body Clock

Posted In:
Articles | Blog | Health News | Mind/Body

Your body’s 24 hour clock is trying to tell you something.

body-clockWhen you get sleepy at a certain time of day or find yourself waking at certain times throughout the night, your body wants you to know it is not balanced.  Now I know many of you will say that you get up in the middle of the night because you have to use the restroom, right?   I suggest that you actually wake up because of an energy drain or an inflammatory response in a certain body part.  Once you are awake, your body parts kick in and say, “Umm, since you are already up, let’s hit the restroom.”  It’s not a coincidence that this power drain is happening.  There are many factors that can lead to these organ imbalances and the best way I know to remedy them is with BodyTalk.

The body clock is literally your body’s organs and their cycle for processing the day’s events and tasks.  Learn more in my series starting with “Is Your Hose Kinked?”  It aligns with what we call meridians and each organ has its own meridian pathway.  Consider your body as a series of plumbing pipes.  The energy should be running smoothly from pipe to pipe and similar to a relay race the baton being handed off to the next organ.   However, every now and then a clog in the pipe can happen. This prevents the free flow of all vital energy and fluids throughout the body.

Each organ has its own special time of day to handle the daily tasks that need to be “filed”.  When the organ is not balanced, these daily tasks can build up, similar to the pile of work on your desk if you skip a day.  This same clock is why jet lag happens to us.  We travel to a different time zone and we lose a few hours.  This is like making your body skip those couple of hours of “cleaning” or organizing the daily tasks.

Follow the instructions to view the body’s 24-hour clock and pinpoint the time of day you feel an energy drain or you can’t sleep.  The best way to address these imbalances is through BodyTalk which can be done in person or remotely.  Schedule your appointment today.

6 Ways to Boost Your Brains and Beauty

Posted In:

By Vaishali

6_ways_to_boost_your_brains_&_beauty1. Watch what you eat. Food is your first wave of medicine. Your diet does affect the clarity of your thoughts in the same way that it affects your body’s overall wellbeing. Refined white sugar, white flour, saturated and trans fats are not foods that will protect your brain or memory or any other part of the body for that matter. These health-sabotaging foods will also decrease overall mental focus and create a sense of physical agitation or downright moodiness. If you want to improve your mood and keep your mind primed, cut out the junk food. A calm mind is a focused mind.

2. Do not deprive yourself of sleep or rest. A tired or fatigued brain is a brain that is not regenerating nor restoring its energy. When you miss getting adequate rest your performance level suffers and moodiness sets in. The longer the deprivation, the greater and the more rapid the mental decay. Studies indicate that when people have been sleep deprived for too long they begin to hallucinate and display signs of madness. The good news is that with quality, uninterrupted and re-cooperative sleep, the fatigue goes away rather quickly and you return to your right mind.

3. Eat brain-boosting foods. The best foods for the brain are also great for the nervous system, immune system and the skin. Brain friendly foods include wild caught salmon, blueberries, leafy green vegetables, avocados, and sprouted nuts. For those of you who do not have the cleanest of diets, know that cacao beans are high on the list of brain friendly foods. Look for dark chocolate made with 70% or more cacao and, of course, organic is the best choice for any foods you consume.

4. Try a Cold Laser Treatment. This boosts the lymphatic system, supports drainage and keeps the fluid moving. Cold laser sessions are completely painless and often times yield immediate results. Cold laser sessions offer a safe treatment option for the very old or very young or those already weakened by drugs or chronic illness. Acupuncturists, chiropractors and other alternative health practitioners may offer cold laser treatments in conjunction with their ongoing health care packages. Or check for cold laser treatment centers in your area.

5. Avoid cold beverages and food. Avoid ingesting iced beverages and foods straight from the refrigerator. The greatest sea of lymphatic tissue is in the digestive system. The body functions best at a temperature of 98.6 degrees. Healthy lymph feels like oil water and is pumped throughout the body primarily by the skeletal muscles. It needs this warm environment to remain in the healthy fluid-like state. When you eat or drink cold foods and liquids, it stuns the lymph system causing the oily water lymph to congeal into a more jello-like consistency impeding its free flowing movement throughout the body.

6. Release toxins thru Massage. Lymphatic drainage massage specifically targets the lymph system. It aids in the breaking up of congestion within the lymph system, tones and supports the lymph nodes as well as facilitates the fluid’s movement throughout the body. Massage works directly on the entire digestive system and is a powerful technique for lymphatic care. You can learn techniques such as Chi Nei Tsang, which is designed to be self-administered. Once you learn how to do it, you have a lifetime of free treatments. A deep-tissue massage is also effective in the release of the stored toxins.

The Clock Continues: Small Intestine Time 1 PM – 3 PM

Chinese clock bio energy Do you have an unclear life direction or an inability to focus on a single task? Do you sigh often or experience a lot of resentment or pessimism? Do you have a desire to eat strange things? If so, you may want to understand how the small intestine plays a role in this.

For the last several months, we have been learning about our 24 hour body clock. Each month we have covered a different organ so in case you missed it, you can read it from the beginning in my prior article titled, Is Your Hose Kinked? Be sure to review the archives for the last couple of months to read the articles that support the rest of the body clock. So far we have covered the lungs, the large intestines, the stomach, the spleen/pancreas and the heart.**

Each organ has its very own unique set of tasks that it performs daily at a very specific time of day similar to your daily tasks or “in-box” at work. And, just like your life, your organs have to deal with an occasional “emergency” in their day. Something you didn’t plan. This emergency could simply be a food you are allergic to such as wheat which often has a bad effect on the intestines in the world of Chinese Medicine. Your body still needs to work on its regularly scheduled daily task, but eating the wrong foods or food you have an intolerance to may cause your body to have to go deal with that “emergency” instead of completing the scheduled task. This is how blockages, build-ups and stagnation can cause an organ’s meridian pathway to be clogged. This can lead to a host of issues. If you get sleepy after lunch, it could be a small intestine imbalance.

The small intestines holds position number six in the body clock which means that the clock starts each day at 3 AM with the lungs, then passes the baton every two hours to a different organ throughout the 24-hour clock. This month, our focus will be on the small intestine which begins its daily routine at 1 PM and continues until 3 PM.

The small intestine influences the shoulder blade, the back of the shoulder and the neck. The small intestine meridian influences the brain, in particular, the frontal lobe. The small intestine has a number of functions including:

  • Receiving food from the stomach
  • Separates pure fluids to the large intestine and impure fluids to the bladder
  • Generates discernment and separates pure and impure thoughts
  • Generates joy/sadness and helps discern appropriate behavior

Often the following symptoms may accompany a small intestine that is not balanced:

  • Pressure and pain in chest, deafness, pain in the elbow
  • Uneven emotional state, melancholy, depression
  • Violent abdominal pain and bloating, gurgling
  • Pain in the testes, premenstrual tension
  • Bitter or sour taste in mouth, burning or itchy anus
  • Feeling slow or stupid, poor assimilation of ideas

There are a number of ways to address an imbalance in the small intestines such as exercises like Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong.
We are continuing this series next month until we have covered all the organs in the 24 hour body clock. However, if you have low energy during this time or other times of the day, it could be a food intolerance or adrenal stress. Pinpointing if this happens after you eat is a good indication of a food intolerance. If not, suspect adrenal stress in which case you could benefit greatly from my prior video release called the Tahiti Vacation Relaxation Technique.

Another way to address energy imbalances is through BodyTalk, a modality I use in my practice. A BodyTalk session can be done in person or remotely (over the phone or live video conference such as Zoom). Learn more about BodyTalk and schedule a session.

Is Your Hose Kinked?

An Introduction to Naturally Balancing Your Energy by Understanding Chinese Medicine

By: Lynn Morales, ND

Most of you would agree that energy runs throughout the body, right? For those who are not certain just think of a couple of analogies for a moment. Have you ever thought about the fact that lightning likes people? You know, people get struck by lightning all the time. It is attracted to the energy we have. Or how about in the winter time when you walk across the carpet and then shock a member of your family or the family pet for that matter. This is evidence that energy runs through our bodies.

Consider your body as a series of plumbing pipes or a hose. Remember the old Draino commercial? The energy should be running smoothly from pipe to pipe. However, every now and then a clog in the pipe or a kink in the garden hose can happen. This prevents the free flow of all vital energy and fluids throughout the body. So how could this impact you?

"Where there is stagnation, there is pain. Where there is pain, there is stagnation."  -    K. Pilipovich

How do these kinks happen? Injuries, surgery adhesions, stress etc. Stress is anything that causes the body to get out of balance. Stress can be caused by emotions, lack of sleep, foods that are not good for you, cell phones, smog, traffic, work…do I need to continue? This is why your health journey is always going to be just that, a journey. You will always have opportunities in this world to create an imbalance just by waking up!

While we don’t really have a hose in our body, we do call these pathways where the energy flows, meridians. They connect to all vital organs, cells and tissues. The body tries very hard to connect these energy flows and keep them from being stagnant. Without help, the body has difficulty with consistent energy, mental alertness, concentration and stamina. Sound like anyone you know?

These meridians also align with our body clock. You have heard the term body clock before, but did you realize that the body cleanses a different organ every two hours of the twenty-four-hour clock? The body clock actually starts at 3 AM with the first organ of the day being the lungs. It cleanses for 2 hours until 5 AM. Are you one of those people that wake up during this time of night? Perhaps you can not go back to sleep until that time frame is over? That is a good indication that your body may have an energy block that is not flowing freely.

There are a number of ways to address this from supplements to modalities such as BodyTalk to various exercises that help with breathing and to enhance the energy flow.   A BodyTalk session can be done in person or remotely (over the phone or live video conference such as Zoom).  Learn more about BodyTalk and schedule a session.   For the next several months, look for specific exercises and products to better enhance the energy flow for specific organs.

Adult Vaccinations

Posted In:

By Dr. Bruce

West Drug companies want you vaccinated. And they are pushing for mandatory vaccines for adults, standing orders for doctors and hospitals, reminders in medical records, feedback from doctors on their patients’ vaccination rates, and more, to keep the vaccines flowing. According to the medical and pharmaceutical industries, if you are an American adult, you need:

  • A regular flu vaccine every year (sometimes two) • A regular pneumonia vaccine
  • A regular diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (Td/Tdap) vaccine
  • Hepatitis A and B (3 shots for hepatitis B) vaccines
  • Two shots for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine
  • Chicken pox vaccine • Meningococcus vaccine
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) if you are woman
  • Herpes zoster (shingles)

Wow! After missing a dozen shots on a regular basis annually for most of my adult life, and almost all shots as a kid, I guess I am really lucky to be alive.

Oh, and while we are at useless medical shots, practices, and scams, the H1N1 (swine) flu pandemic-the only disease in medical history ever rated a level 6 worldwide pandemic and predicted to kill millions-actually killed, according to the Center of Disease Control, fewer than 12,000 Americans this flu season. And many of these people were vaccinated! This startling number is less than one-third the fatalities in a normal flu year! Yet another medical debacle. This was a scam to make money from the start.

For Any Illness-Stop the Wheat and Suspect Your Prescriptions

Posted In:
Blog | Diet/Nutrition | Health News | Newsletter

By Dr. Bruce West

What do these three patients of ours have in common? One is a 70-year-old woman who suffered with epilepsy and seizures for 50 years. These came to an abrupt end within one week of starting treatment. The second is a 60-year-old woman who could not stop her bone loss from osteoporosis, despite the proper diet, lifting weights, and taking bone-building supplements. Her osteoporosis and continuing bone loss reversed itself within 90 days of starting treatment. The last is a 65-year-old who suffered through severe fatigue and what she called “being spacey,” confused, and unable to concentrate-for more than 25 years. It all ended within one week of starting treatment.

What these three patients shared in common was that they all suffered from celiac disease and did not know it. Celiac disease occurs when your body cannot tolerate gluten-a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats. For celiac patients, gluten breaks down the lining of the intestines, interfering with digestion and absorption-leading to multiple nutritional deficiencies. None had the classic symptoms of bloating, nausea, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or weight loss. And none had been tested for or diagnosed with celiac disease.

They all got better simply because we stumbled onto their problems by trying a protocol I use with almost every patient-eliminating all gluten for 30 days. Two were immediately cured, and the third felt so much better that she continued to eliminate gluten from her diet and eventually overcame incurable osteoporosis.

The moral of the story is if you suffer from any illness at all, you must eliminate gluten from your diet for 30 days, simply to test the possibility that this protein is destroying your health. Estimates are that close to 1 in 133 Americans has celiac disease. And most do not know it. It is tough to diagnose because according to modern medicine, a biopsy of the intestinal lining is the only true diagnostic procedure. Of course, this is invasive, and by the time the intestinal lining is being destroyed, celiac disease is far advanced.

It is just so much better, makes so much more sense, and is classic evidence-based medicine to simply eliminate gluten from your diet and see how you feel. If you are remarkably better, biopsy or not, you have hit the nail on the head.

Prescriptions Also

These three patients all suffered from the same-somewhat unusual-underlying cause of their problems. However, for literally thousands of our other patients, we helped them find a much more common underlying cause of their problems by simply examining their prescriptions. And the lesson here is even simpler: No matter what symptoms you have, always suspect that your prescription drugs are the underlying cause of your problem until proven otherwise.

In fact, no home should be without a drug handbook to look up prescription medications. When you find that your problems are listed as a side effect from a drug that you take, it is an obvious tip off. This is particularly true for cardiac drugs. And if you take more than two drugs, your problem may not be listed under either drug because it could be caused by the combination. By the time you take three or more drugs, there is not a human being on the planet who can determine just what may be going on in your body as a result of the combinations. So get to your doctor to take steps to change, wean, or eliminate offending drugs to find your cure. Or even better, if you can find one, get to a private-practice pharmacist who helps people wean off drugs to solve their health problems. Thanks to a glut of super powerful prescription drugs, this is one of the hottest new fields for pharmacists.

So no matter what the symptoms, problems or “disease” you suffer from, always remember to eliminate gluten as your potential cure-and suspect your prescriptions as the potential cause of your suffering. If you don’t, your suffering can go on for years, decades, or your entire life!
