6 Ways to Boost Your Brains and Beauty

Posted In:

By Vaishali

6_ways_to_boost_your_brains_&_beauty1. Watch what you eat. Food is your first wave of medicine. Your diet does affect the clarity of your thoughts in the same way that it affects your body’s overall wellbeing. Refined white sugar, white flour, saturated and trans fats are not foods that will protect your brain or memory or any other part of the body for that matter. These health-sabotaging foods will also decrease overall mental focus and create a sense of physical agitation or downright moodiness. If you want to improve your mood and keep your mind primed, cut out the junk food. A calm mind is a focused mind.

2. Do not deprive yourself of sleep or rest. A tired or fatigued brain is a brain that is not regenerating nor restoring its energy. When you miss getting adequate rest your performance level suffers and moodiness sets in. The longer the deprivation, the greater and the more rapid the mental decay. Studies indicate that when people have been sleep deprived for too long they begin to hallucinate and display signs of madness. The good news is that with quality, uninterrupted and re-cooperative sleep, the fatigue goes away rather quickly and you return to your right mind.

3. Eat brain-boosting foods. The best foods for the brain are also great for the nervous system, immune system and the skin. Brain friendly foods include wild caught salmon, blueberries, leafy green vegetables, avocados, and sprouted nuts. For those of you who do not have the cleanest of diets, know that cacao beans are high on the list of brain friendly foods. Look for dark chocolate made with 70% or more cacao and, of course, organic is the best choice for any foods you consume.

4. Try a Cold Laser Treatment. This boosts the lymphatic system, supports drainage and keeps the fluid moving. Cold laser sessions are completely painless and often times yield immediate results. Cold laser sessions offer a safe treatment option for the very old or very young or those already weakened by drugs or chronic illness. Acupuncturists, chiropractors and other alternative health practitioners may offer cold laser treatments in conjunction with their ongoing health care packages. Or check for cold laser treatment centers in your area.

5. Avoid cold beverages and food. Avoid ingesting iced beverages and foods straight from the refrigerator. The greatest sea of lymphatic tissue is in the digestive system. The body functions best at a temperature of 98.6 degrees. Healthy lymph feels like oil water and is pumped throughout the body primarily by the skeletal muscles. It needs this warm environment to remain in the healthy fluid-like state. When you eat or drink cold foods and liquids, it stuns the lymph system causing the oily water lymph to congeal into a more jello-like consistency impeding its free flowing movement throughout the body.

6. Release toxins thru Massage. Lymphatic drainage massage specifically targets the lymph system. It aids in the breaking up of congestion within the lymph system, tones and supports the lymph nodes as well as facilitates the fluid’s movement throughout the body. Massage works directly on the entire digestive system and is a powerful technique for lymphatic care. You can learn techniques such as Chi Nei Tsang, which is designed to be self-administered. Once you learn how to do it, you have a lifetime of free treatments. A deep-tissue massage is also effective in the release of the stored toxins.

The Clock Continues: Triple Heater 9 PM – 11 PM

Triple Heater Time 9 PM – 11 PM

Chinese clock bio energyDo you have an inability to let go of negative thoughts? Do you often have suspicion or break relationships? Ever find you have deafness or earaches? Your Triple Heater may be trying to tell you it is stressed or not balanced.

Did you even know you had a Triple Heater? Remember we have been talking about the body’s meridian system from a Chinese Medicine perspective. Each month we have covered a different organ so in case you missed it, you can read it from the beginning in my prior article titled, “Is Your Hose Kinked?” Be sure to review the archives for the last couple of months to read the articles that support the rest of the body clock. So far we have covered the lungs, the large intestines, the stomach, the spleen/pancreas, the heart, the small intestines, the bladder, the kidneys and the pericardium.*

The Triple Heater does not really have form like your liver or kidney which is something substantial you can touch. Your local surgeon won’t be operating on this but don’t underestimate that it serves a function.

Its closest equivalent in Western medicine would be the many glands of the endocrine system such as the thyroid, pituitary, hypothalamus etc. It's called Triple Heater because it is divided into three equal parts; upper, middle and lower spanning the torso of the body.

Each organ/gland has its very own unique set of tasks that it performs daily at a very specific time of day similar to your daily tasks or “in-box” at work. And, just like your life, your organs have to deal with an occasional “emergency” in their day. When your body has a stressor it can impact any number of ways and in the instance of the Triple Heater you may find your energy low at this time of day or you may be unable to fall asleep.

Triple Heater holds position number ten in the body clock. The clock starts each day at 3 AM with the lungs and passes the baton every two hours to a different organ throughout the 24-hour clock. This month our focus will be on the Triple Heater which begins its daily routine at 9 PM and continues until 11 PM.

The Triple Heater has a number of functions including:
• Keeps fluids moving in the body
• Facilitates digestion
• Benefits the eyes and ears
• Stops convulsions
• Dispels masses and stagnation

Often the following symptoms may accompany a Triple Heater that is not balanced:
• Lack of resistance to infections
• Poor circulation, overheating or chilliness
• Fluid and toxin retention
• Earaches
• Depression, mood swings
• Stiffness of shoulders
• Swelling of lymph nodes

There are a number of ways to address an imbalance in the Triple Heater such as exercises like Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong.

We are continuing this series next month until we have covered all the organs in the 24 hour body clock. However, if you have low energy during this time or other times of the day, it could also be a food intolerance or adrenal stress. Pinpointing if this happens after you eat is a good indication of a food intolerance. If not, suspect adrenal stress in which case you could benefit greatly from my prior video release called the Tahiti Vacation Relaxation Technique.

Another way to address energy imbalances is through BodyTalk, a modality I work within my practice. BodyTalk work can be handled in person or long distance. Click on the link to learn more about these services: BodyTalk

The Clock Continues: Small Intestine Time 1 PM – 3 PM

Chinese clock bio energy Do you have an unclear life direction or an inability to focus on a single task? Do you sigh often or experience a lot of resentment or pessimism? Do you have a desire to eat strange things? If so, you may want to understand how the small intestine plays a role in this.

For the last several months, we have been learning about our 24 hour body clock. Each month we have covered a different organ so in case you missed it, you can read it from the beginning in my prior article titled, Is Your Hose Kinked? Be sure to review the archives for the last couple of months to read the articles that support the rest of the body clock. So far we have covered the lungs, the large intestines, the stomach, the spleen/pancreas and the heart.**

Each organ has its very own unique set of tasks that it performs daily at a very specific time of day similar to your daily tasks or “in-box” at work. And, just like your life, your organs have to deal with an occasional “emergency” in their day. Something you didn’t plan. This emergency could simply be a food you are allergic to such as wheat which often has a bad effect on the intestines in the world of Chinese Medicine. Your body still needs to work on its regularly scheduled daily task, but eating the wrong foods or food you have an intolerance to may cause your body to have to go deal with that “emergency” instead of completing the scheduled task. This is how blockages, build-ups and stagnation can cause an organ’s meridian pathway to be clogged. This can lead to a host of issues. If you get sleepy after lunch, it could be a small intestine imbalance.

The small intestines holds position number six in the body clock which means that the clock starts each day at 3 AM with the lungs, then passes the baton every two hours to a different organ throughout the 24-hour clock. This month, our focus will be on the small intestine which begins its daily routine at 1 PM and continues until 3 PM.

The small intestine influences the shoulder blade, the back of the shoulder and the neck. The small intestine meridian influences the brain, in particular, the frontal lobe. The small intestine has a number of functions including:

  • Receiving food from the stomach
  • Separates pure fluids to the large intestine and impure fluids to the bladder
  • Generates discernment and separates pure and impure thoughts
  • Generates joy/sadness and helps discern appropriate behavior

Often the following symptoms may accompany a small intestine that is not balanced:

  • Pressure and pain in chest, deafness, pain in the elbow
  • Uneven emotional state, melancholy, depression
  • Violent abdominal pain and bloating, gurgling
  • Pain in the testes, premenstrual tension
  • Bitter or sour taste in mouth, burning or itchy anus
  • Feeling slow or stupid, poor assimilation of ideas

There are a number of ways to address an imbalance in the small intestines such as exercises like Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong.
We are continuing this series next month until we have covered all the organs in the 24 hour body clock. Making Sense of Blood Sugar Handling

What Part Do Stress and Cortisol Play?

stressed out personWhen exposed to stress, the body initiates a chain of events (releasing stimulatory hormones) that prepare the body for either a “fight” or “flight” response.  These events, which alter metabolism, require significant energy or fuel-the body needs called glucose.

Anything that causes us to feel stress raises cortisol (referred to as the “stress hormone”) levels.  If we feel stressed on a regular basis, cortisol levels remain elevated.  This affects metabolic processes that serve to increase blood glucose levels.  Hormones affected by elevated cortisol levels include:

    chrismetzner.com/ner/there revolving
  • Thyroid
  • Progesterone
  • Estrogen
  • Testosterone

Because one of the primary roles of cortisol is to encourage the body to refuel itself after responding to a stressor, an elevated cortisol level keeps the appetite ramped up-so stressed people will feel hungry ALL the time.

Emphasize a Healthy, Holistic Lifestyle

When it is evident you need help with blood glucose handling, you will want to address all facets of your lifestyle, including:

Stress Management

There are factors that contribute to how the body responds to a stressor:

  1. Whether there is an outlet for the stress.  Go for a run.  Talk to a friend.
  2. Whether the stress is predictable.  The more accustomed a person is to the stressor, the less pronounced the response to the stress will be.
  3. Whether there is control over the stressor.  Learn to accept those things that cannot be changed.

Stress: The Thief of Sleep

Many studies have shown that getting less than eight hours of sleep per night causes metabolic changes.  Less sleep means insufficient time for cortisol levels to drop.  An increase in cortisol decreases the ability to fall asleep as well as the amount of time the mind spends in the most restful stages of deep sleep.

To foster a good night’s sleep, exercise early in the day, be consistent with lights-out and waking times, and avoid caffeine late in the evening.  You may want to add deep-breathing techniques, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation to sleep regimens.

Exercise

Regular participation in “moderate” exercise can reduce body fat, reduce appetite, build muscle and bone, improve mental and emotional function, and stimulate the immune system.  Aerobic exercise is recommended because it makes you breathe more deeply and makes the heart work harder.  Intense exercise can be detrimental by elevating cortisol levels.

Nutrition

Learning what affects blood sugar handling in your body can make you feel more in control.  You probably already know to avoid carbohydrate-laden snacks and sweets, but sometimes product labeling can be deceptive.  You may not know what ingredients to watch for, like high-fructose corn syrup in sports and energy drinks.  Other things to look for are excitotoxins-substances that are believed to kill or damage nerve cells through excessive stimulation.  The biggest offenders are monosodium glutamate (MSG) and aspartame, which can both interfere with normal functioning of the endocrine system.

To level out blood sugar levels, you should eat more whole-grains foods containing fiber (whole-grain bread and fresh fruits and vegetables) and avoid refined carbohydrates like white flour, white rice, white pasta, and white sugar.  Whole grains take longer to digest due to their denseness and fiber content and won’t cause blood sugar to spike.

Supplements

In addition to relieving stress, eating right, and exercising, whole food supplements and herbal products can encourage healthy blood sugar levels when combined with a healthy diet.

Cataplex® GTF

  • Supports healthy carbohydrate digestion
  • Supports healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels when already within normal ranges
  • Encourages healthy blood sugar utilization at the cellular level

Diaplex®

  • Supports healthy sugar handling
  • Supports healthy pancreas function
  • Supports healthy bowl and gallbladder function

Gymnema 4g (MediHerb)

  • Maintains healthy blood sugar levels when combined with a balanced diet
  • Maintains normal cholesterol levels in a normal range

Evaluation

After you have embraced these lifestyle changes, re-evaluate the blood sugar levels.  Continue following these tips/techniques to maintain your health and wellness.  Feel free to contact me with any questions at Lynn@LynnMoralesND.com

The Clock Continues: Heart Time 11 AM – 1 PM

Do you have a fear of aging? Do you mutter to yourself? Do you get mouth and tongue ulcers often or have a bitter taste in your mouth? If so, read on to learn more about how your heart plays a role in this.

So far we have covered the lungs, the large intestines, the stomach and the spleen/pancreas.

Each organ has its very own unique set of tasks that it performs daily at a very specific time of day similar to your daily tasks or “in-box” at work. And, just like your life, your organs have to deal with an occasional “emergency” in their day. Something you didn’t plan. This emergency could simply be a food you are allergic to such as dairy which often has a bad effect on the heart in the world of Chinese Medicine.

The heart holds position number 5 in the body clock which means that the clock starts each day at 3 AM with the lungs, then passes the baton every two hours to a different organ throughout the 24 hour clock. This month, our focus will be on the heart which begins it daily routine at 11 AM and continues until 1 PM.

The heart network includes the heart, the heart meridian which runs through both lungs, over to the armpits and down the inside of the arms to the pinky finger. It also heavily influences the blood vessels and the tip of the tongue. This is a rather interesting point since there is a Bible verse that mentions “…But the things that come out of the mouht come from the heart..." (Matt 15:18 NIV)

The heart has a number of functions including:

  • Turning food energy (Qi) into blood and controlling food supply, vessels and pulse
  • Influencing complexion by controlling the blood supply to the face
  • Balances emotions because healthy blood lets the mind/spirit rest
  • Sends blood to the tongue and allows for appropriate laughter/speech

Often the following symptoms may accompany a heart that is not balanced:

  • Palpitations, sweating easily, pale, tired, dull complexion
  • Emotional stress especially sadness, fear of aging, anxiety
  • Disturbed dreams, feeling undernourished/nurtured
  • Worry, insomnia, poor memory, fidgets, impulsive
  • Difficulty speaking, incoherent speech, rash behavior, muttering to self
  • Grief, resentment over long bottled up anger, hitting or scolding others.

There are a number of ways to address an imbalance in the heart such as exercises like Yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong. The following Qi Gong exercise will help you strengthen the energy flow in this meridian and can help improve the symptoms listed above. Click here: Qi Gong Exercises for the Heart

We are continuing this series next month until we have covered all the organs in the 24 hour body clock. However, if you have low energy during this time or other times of the day, it could be a food intolerance or adrenal stress. Pinpointing if this happens after you eat is a good indication of a food intolerance. For the Best Diet Advice, Look to the East

Posted In:
Blog | Diet/Nutrition | Newsletter

By Jason Bussell

Compare the shape of the average American to the average Asian and you will be reminded that America, with all of its diet fads, is the most obese nation in the world. Chinese culture, on the other hand, has adhered to a diet plan of balance and moderation that we can all practice to live healthier. The various cuisines of Asian countries are very different but they all adhere to the same principles-a diet of simple whole grains, slightly-cooked vegetables and a little bit of everything else. Too much or too little of any one thing is not good.

All foods have upsides and downsides. A good diet should be like a good stock portfolio-diversified. Having the same thing every day overloads you in one sector. That makes you more prone to the dangers of that sector and missing out on all the other good things happening in the market. So like a good portfolio, you should hedge your bets. Eating smaller amounts of more foods ensures no single one has too great an influence.

White rice is better than brown. Brown rice has a thick hull around it. This is similar to eating a walnut with its shell on. The nutrients in the hull have a poor bio-availability. Our bodies have to break down the shell, which robs energy and slows our metabolisms. But a variety of grains is better than any one. Simple grains should be taken more than breads and pastas.

Cooked vegetables are better than raw. It is true that cooking slightly will destroy a little of the nutrients (about 10%), but that remaining 90% is then unlocked and available. Whatever you put in your stomach that is cold and raw, you have to heat and cook. This takes time, energy and slows your metabolism. We get all of our energy from our food. We want to get the energy and life out of it and excrete that which we don’t need. Cooking outside the body lightens the load and then we simply act as a filter: sending the good stuff to the tissues, the bad to the tissue paper. We should eat a wide variety of vegetables, mostly locally grown, fresh and organic.

Calories don’t matter. The average person in China consumes between 25-40% more calories than the average American, but they have much less obesity. This is because of the kinds of calories they consume and how they are prepared. Calories from natural sources give you a more steady release of energy, satisfy your hunger and facilitate appropriate elimination of waste. Cookies, snack foods, artificial sweeteners, sodas, etc, spike our blood sugars, make us hungrier and slow our digestion. Don’t go hungry, just keep yourself full of good, natural food.

Eat a little red meat. Eating too much red meat is associated with myriad health problems. Vegetarians almost have it right, but giving up meat completely will almost always lead to a long-term deficiency. Chinese medicine specifically recommends we get two ounces, twice a week of mammal meat. One famous Chinese doctor wrote that “Vegetarianism is best suited to monks, living in the shelter of a temple, spending their days in seated meditation.” Those of us with a more active lifestyle need a little more of an active food source. Fish and fowl are good too, but we need a little mammal in the rotation. White meat is not better than dark-chicken is not better than beef. We should have a little of most things.

Minimize Dairy. Dairy is designed by nature for infants to turn into substance in the body. Humans are the only animals that have dairy after infancy. Dairy does not have calcium, but it is overwhelmed by the amino acid casein that actually robs the bones of calcium. Green leafy vegetables are a much better source of calcium for our bodies, with fewer ill effects.

Chinese medicine teaches that in adults, dairy turns into a substance called phlegm. Phlegm can manifest in many different ways: fat, mucus, sinus infections, mental fog, respiratory problems, skin conditions and even fibroids and tumors. A little dairy won’t kill you, but a lot of it is not good. Your primary beverage should be water (room or body temperature) and your number two beverage should be green tea. Everything else, including coffee, should be occasional.

Try to put these principles to use in your diet and your family’s diet to see the benefits. Trust what has worked for millennia. Keep it simple, balanced and moderate.

ECZEMA AND YOUR GUT

Posted In:
Blog | Diet/Nutrition | Health News | Newsletter

By Dr. Bruce West

Eczema and Your Gut

If you are plagued with eczema, you know just how frustrating and debilitating this condition can be. You try everything-all the creams, lotions, and potions - to no avail. You finally turn to steroids, which immediately improve your condition, but slowly destroy your body and health in the process. You are disappointed to discover that almost to the day that you stop steroid therapy, your eczema comes back. But even worse, chronic steroid use causes dysbiosis (abnormal gut flora), which is the prime cause of eczema!

This situation is true even for infants and children. Infants inherit their gut flora from their mothers. Since millions of mothers suffer from dysbiosis, millions of infants suffer from eczema right from the start. For infants, kids, and adults the gut flora-that thick, beneficial-bacteria layer that covers your intestinal lining-is the very cradle of your immune system.

When this flora and the intestinal lining become damaged from prescription drugs, antibiotics, sugary and processed foods, and chemicals, dysbiosis (the overgrowth of harmful bacteria) is the result. Chronic indigestion, diarrhea, cramps, constipation, colitis, Crohn’s disease and more are the direct result of dysbiosis. But more insidious is that the immune system becomes damaged, and you end up becoming immune compromised.

In simple terms, your immune system is divided into two divisions known as T-cell type 1 and T-cell type 2. T-cell type 1 serves as a barrier to infection and invasion anywhere the body comes in contact with the outside world-for example, through the skin and mucous membranes. This system uses biochemicals such as interleukin-2, immunoglobulin A, gamma interferon, and more to keep invaders out of your body.

When you develop dysbiosis (abnormal gut flora), this system is weakened, letting foreign microbes and toxins into your body. Your body responds by over stimulating the T-cell type 2 system. This system kicks into high gear using its own set of biochemicals such as interleukins, alpha interferon, and immunoglobulin E (IgE). IgE is the master of allergic reactions.

Once this scenario takes place-when T-cell 1 is underactive, allowing foreign invaders into your body, and T-cell 2 kicks into high gear, the result is predictable. You end up with chronic viral infections, allergies (often severe and to everything), chronic fatigue syndrome, candidiasis, asthma, and eczema. Other dysbiosis syndromes include, but are not limited to, arthritis; chronic inflammation and pain; menstrual problems; mental and emotional problems including, but not limited to, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, autism, schizophrenia syndrome, and depression; and much more.

So if you suffer from chronic eczema, you need to fix your gut. It is difficult to overestimate just how critical the state of your gut flora is when it comes to all these dysbiosis syndromes, including eczema. Most of the syndromes spring from severe nutritional deficiencies that come automatically when your gut is host to happily growing abnormal bacteria. When this is the case, your gut simply cannot absorb the nutrients your immune system and your body need to stay healthy and strong-no matter how good your diet is, or how many “vitamins” you take.

Cure Dysbiosis to Cure Eczema

You have to normalize your gut and give it what it needs to bring back a healthy and normal flora. Only then will you be able to finally balance your immune system, turn up your T-cell 1 system, and turn down your T-cell 2 system. Normalizing your gut will start to turn off the over stimulated and allergic reactions in your skin and body. And once your gut is on the way towards normalization, you will slowly recover from the major, powerful, and multiple nutritional deficiencies that cause endless suffering for all persons with dysbiosis. With a normalizing gut, and the proper nutrition, you will once again be able to absorb the nutrients needed to end eczema, allergies, and all the other nutritional deficiency syndromes from which most Americans suffer.

So start today. For a detailed protocol to end dysbiosis, see my article, “Digestion, the Gut, and Disease,” in this issue of Health Alert. At the very least, begin to help yourself by changing your diet immediately. Eat only real, whole foods, no processed foods, and give your gut a rest by eliminating all gluten (anything made from wheat, rye, barley, and oats) for 6 months. Start taking a pro-and prebiotic to feed your gut the healthy, beneficial bacteria that it needs. We have identified the very best product as ProSynbiotic from Standard Process. It contains not only the beneficial bacteria (probiotic) you need, but the prebiotic (food for the beneficial bacteria) as well-all in one capsule. Take one capsule 3x daily for a year or more.

If you suffer from eczema, once you start to normalize your gut, be sure to take Blue Ice™ Fermented Cod Liver Oil (CLO) to get the skin nutrition you need. Take 3 capsules daily for a year or more. Better yet, take this supplement for life as it contains all the vitamin D fractions in their natural form, with real vitamin A and omega-3 fats. This is skin, heart, and hormone rocket fuel.

Potions, lotions, creams, salves, steroids, ultra violet, antibiotics, and more for eczema? The underlying cause is in your gut-creating the immune system imbalance and the nutritional deficiencies that ensure eczema for life. If you are suffering, then absolutely, for sure, without a doubt, follow the protocol in “Digestion, the Gut, and Disease.” It will simply be the start of a new life for you.

Varicose Veins and Hemorrhoids

Posted In:
Blog | Diet/Nutrition | Health News | Newsletter | Supplements

By Dr. Bruce West

The best symptom relief for hemorrhoids is arrowroot. The best treatment for hemorrhoids and varicose veins (hemorrhoids are varicose veins) comes from the root of the stone plant, commonly known as the collinsonia plant. This treatment is even more effective than horse chestnut preparations.

This centuries-old remedy was used by Native Americans and consists of the ground-up root of the stone or collinsonia plant. The active ingredient in this herbal root is magnesium phosphate, which is a vascular astringent. That means that it helps maintain the proper tone in the muscles of blood vessels. Lack of tone allows vessels and veins to become enlarged and distended.

This stone-hard root is ground into a fine powder and encapsulated, using no heat or chemicals. It can routinely provide dramatic relief for people with vein problems, varicose veins, hemorrhoids. You just take Collinsonia Root (3 capsules 2x or 3x daily) with a large glass of water. If you have hemorrhoids, use arrowroot for symptom relief while you are using the collinsonia capsules. Just dab some powder on the area a few times daily.

Most people with varicose veins and/or hemorrhoids also have a congested liver. If your vein problems are severe, consider adding A-F Betafood (3 tablets 2x daily) and Cyruta-Plus (2 tablets 2x daily) to help clear up liver congestion as well as strengthen your blood vessels. If you have varicose veins and/or hemorrhoids with a congested liver and gallbladder problems, you certainly need A-F Betafood, and you should consider a liver/gallbladder flush.

Today medical treatments for varicose veins and hemorrhoids are far superior to earlier medical treatments. But any surgical treatment carries some degree of risk. It is always best to use the herbal protocol for 4 to 6 months before undergoing surgery. And it only makes sense to treat your liver, which is the underlying cause of serious cases of varicose veins and/or hemorrhoids. This should be done whether you use collinsonia, arrowroot, or surgery.

Breast Cancer and Cod Liver Oil

If you have had breast cancer, if you are at high risk for breast cancer, if you are afraid of getting breast cancer, or if you are just smart, you will take cod liver oil (CLO) for the rest of your life. Aside from being a sacred food and elixir that has profound and wonderful health benefits, CLO and its vitamin D are profoundly linked with breast cancer prevention.

In fact, one of the worlds’ leading vitamin D researchers, Dr. Cedric Garland, recently told a gathering at the Toronto School of Medicine’s “Diagnosis and Treatment of Vitamin D Deficiency” conference, that breast cancer is a disease so directly related to vitamin D deficiency that a woman’s risk of contracting the disease can be “virtually eradicated” by elevating her vitamin D status to what vitamin D scientists consider to be natural levels. To read Dr. Garland’s entire statement, go to www.naturalnews.com/028119_vitamin_D_brst_cancer.html.

Garland’s statement is a little strong for me, but there is no doubt that vitamin D from cod liver oil is powerfully linked to breast cancer prevention. Because of all the attention, many women have been experimenting with vitamin D supplements. Many experience failure to raise vitamin D levels when they use dry supplements, and many get inferior supplements. Thus, many fail to get the breast cancer prevention benefits because of these issues.

As we have stated previously, there are many forms of vitamin D. And there are still many forms of vitamin D that we simply do not even know about. So it makes sense to raise your levels with the whole food that is super-rich in the whole vitamin D with all it variations. That food is Blue Ice™ Fermented Cod Liver Oil. We use it in the form of capsules, with 2-5 capsules daily being the most common dose to bring vitamin D levels back to normal.

Any woman in a high breast cancer risk category would be foolish not to use CLO as part of her cancer prevention program. It is easy, inexpensive, and provides lots of other health benefits. But make sure you use real CLO. Today almost all CLO is industrialized, which means that the vitamin D and lots of other nutrients are stripped out. Some are replaced with synthetic vitamin D, which is not what you want. So to be sure, rely on real, raw, fermented cod liver oil. It is the last of this sacred food.

Estrogen and Breast Cancer

If you are a breast cancer survivor or at a high risk for breast cancer, be sure to get your estrogen level tested. If you have an elevated estrogen level, you will need to lower this major breast cancer risk by using cruciferous vegetables. Simply take 4-6 capsules daily of Cruciferous Complete (formerly called Phytolyn) by Standard Process to help your body detoxify excess estrogen out of your system. Remember that women with the highest estrogen levels are 500% more likely to develop breast cancer or a recurrence of breast cancer than those with normal to low estrogen levels.1,2

Research by the Metametrix Institute showed that all women consuming 3.6 grams of Cruciferous Complete showed increased rates of estrogen excretion (removal of excess estrogen). You can prove this to yourself by testing and retesting your estrogen level before and after a few months of taking Cruciferous Complete. As your estrogen level drops to normal, your risk of breast cancer drops with it.

As with all things related to supplements, the research proved that the whole plant (brussels sprouts and kale) works best. Cruciferous Complete is whole, raw, organic, cruciferous brussels sprouts and kale, processed without heat or freezing, thus maintain the life force of the plant. The research proved that this type of product generated responses 100 times greater than higher dose fractionated products.3

In other words, whole food phytonutrient complexes are much more effective in absorption and conversion into the needed disease-fighting molecules. They actually produce the measurable results we are after. And as one of the major beneficial side effects of using Cruciferous Complete, this product contains flavonoids and hydroxycinnamic acids. These powerful agents are proven to help people prevent and even treat macular degeneration. Years ago we did our own study that showed that 90% of macular degeneration suffers using this product either maintained their vision with no worsening, or actually enjoyed improved vision after 6 months.4

In Conclusion

Cruciferous Complete has been proven to reduce excess estrogen, thus reducing your risk of breast cancer. Use this remarkable supplement if you have high estrogen levels. And use cod liver oil no matter what. CLO can dramatically lower your risk of breast cancer, with low cost, no side effects, no invasive procedures, and no drugs. Now that’s a protocol that you can live with.

For Any Illness-Stop the Wheat and Suspect Your Prescriptions

By Dr. Bruce West

What do these three patients of ours have in common? One is a 70-year-old woman who suffered with epilepsy and seizures for 50 years. These came to an abrupt end within one week of starting treatment. The second is a 60-year-old woman who could not stop her bone loss from osteoporosis, despite the proper diet, lifting weights, and taking bone-building supplements. Her osteoporosis and continuing bone loss reversed itself within 90 days of starting treatment. The last is a 65-year-old who suffered through severe fatigue and what she called “being spacey,” confused, and unable to concentrate-for more than 25 years. It all ended within one week of starting treatment.

What these three patients shared in common was that they all suffered from celiac disease and did not know it. Celiac disease occurs when your body cannot tolerate gluten-a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats. For celiac patients, gluten breaks down the lining of the intestines, interfering with digestion and absorption-leading to multiple nutritional deficiencies. None had the classic symptoms of bloating, nausea, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or weight loss. And none had been tested for or diagnosed with celiac disease.

They all got better simply because we stumbled onto their problems by trying a protocol I use with almost every patient-eliminating all gluten for 30 days. Two were immediately cured, and the third felt so much better that she continued to eliminate gluten from her diet and eventually overcame incurable osteoporosis.

The moral of the story is if you suffer from any illness at all, you must eliminate gluten from your diet for 30 days, simply to test the possibility that this protein is destroying your health. Estimates are that close to 1 in 133 Americans has celiac disease. And most do not know it. It is tough to diagnose because according to modern medicine, a biopsy of the intestinal lining is the only true diagnostic procedure. Of course, this is invasive, and by the time the intestinal lining is being destroyed, celiac disease is far advanced.

It is just so much better, makes so much more sense, and is classic evidence-based medicine to simply eliminate gluten from your diet and see how you feel. If you are remarkably better, biopsy or not, you have hit the nail on the head.

Prescriptions Also

These three patients all suffered from the same-somewhat unusual-underlying cause of their problems. However, for literally thousands of our other patients, we helped them find a much more common underlying cause of their problems by simply examining their prescriptions. And the lesson here is even simpler: No matter what symptoms you have, always suspect that your prescription drugs are the underlying cause of your problem until proven otherwise.

In fact, no home should be without a drug handbook to look up prescription medications. When you find that your problems are listed as a side effect from a drug that you take, it is an obvious tip off. This is particularly true for cardiac drugs. And if you take more than two drugs, your problem may not be listed under either drug because it could be caused by the combination. By the time you take three or more drugs, there is not a human being on the planet who can determine just what may be going on in your body as a result of the combinations. So get to your doctor to take steps to change, wean, or eliminate offending drugs to find your cure. Or even better, if you can find one, get to a private-practice pharmacist who helps people wean off drugs to solve their health problems. Thanks to a glut of super powerful prescription drugs, this is one of the hottest new fields for pharmacists.

So no matter what the symptoms, problems or “disease” you suffer from, always remember to eliminate gluten as your potential cure-and suspect your prescriptions as the potential cause of your suffering. If you don’t, your suffering can go on for years, decades, or your entire life!
