COVID-19

Let's Talk Science

By Laura Stuve, Ph.D. (Reprinted with Permission)

(When it comes to COVID-19) the world needs the powerful healing BodyTalk can uniquely provide in the safe and effective format of distance treatments. But a lot of people - family, friends, and clients - may be having a hard time believing in this, and aren't open. This doubt is understandable  - we've grown up in the Western healthcare paradigm where distance healing sounds like it's from a magical realm. I'm passionate about sharing my perspectives as a Ph.D. scientist, mind-body medicine instructor and practitioner to help open doors for all of us to share the distance healing potential of the BodyTalk systems with everyone who needs them right now....so here goes!

Together, we are facing a global Covid -19 pandemic that is disrupting every aspect of our lives. While we stay inside as much as possible, we still need groceries and supplies as do our animals. Some of us still need to go to work and interface with the public. No matter where or how you are hunkering down, we all need support - for our immune resilience, to manage our stress and emotional responses to the daily upheavals, and for some of us, to resolve the infection of this deadly virus itself. People need effective, safe healthcare NOW and why not brilliant treatments at a distance?

The mind-body angle

In mind-body medicine, we honor the impact of our beliefs, mindsets, stresses and emotions on our physical health...mountains of research support this connection! We know from the latest science, that our immune function is the most impacted system by stress and emotional swings.

Chronically stressed? Angry? Fearful? Feeling threatened by financial and work uncertainty? Unsure what is safe to do?

  • Your immune system responds with depletion and underperformance.

Feeling alone and isolated in this lockdown era?

  • A sense of alienation and lack of connection has been shown to be the worst type of insult for the immune system - triggering reprogramming of the genes in the immune cells to both increase inflammation and debilitate your ability to fight off an infection.

BUT, we can talk to a counselor, a friend, a mentor and get a new perspective, shift our view, and feel a ray of optimism that becomes contagious...and this transformation trickles down to our cells!   We don't need to talk in person with this supportive individual, we can connect by phone, email or watch a recorded message from them. The simple act of connection with someone by any medium shifts us into a productive stress response (as compared to a fight or flight stress response) and restores our immune function.  Mindset Intervention research studies have shown this is a FAST and lasting response that occurs within 10-15 minutes of a simple reframing intervention - people's minds, emotional states and biology shift, clearing all the adversity of chronic stress including strain on the cardiovascular system and reversing the immune system debilitation.

And this is what mind-body practitioners do...simple emotional and stress releases that we can coach people to do live or remotely with equal effectiveness. And when we don't feel threatened and have a sense of support, we naturally relax, sleep better, heal and our immune cells re-engage with their jobs resolving true threats!

The stress angle

How could mind-body medicine work in the first place, let alone make a difference when done at a distance? Your autonomic (think automatic functions here...like digestion, heart rate, breathing) nervous system has two modes - a gas pedal and a brake. Like your car, you can't simultaneously drive it in both modes. You either have the gas pedal on and are in sympathetic (aka stress) mode, OR, you have the brakes on and are in relaxation (parasympathetic) mode. Science tells us that 100% of healing and rejuvenation happens in relaxation mode (so let's do the math here: 0% of healing happens when we're stressed!). So anything that gets you to relaxation mode boosts the body's natural ability to heal - anything! If you work with the BodyTalk systems, we use simple techniques that balance the brain and work through acupuncture points to calm mind and body. These straightforward techniques can be taught remotely so anyone can touch the points and brain areas on themselves and get the powerful relaxation reset, which jump starts healing.

We have published research data demonstrating distance treatments work!

Check out the peer-reviewed published research study on distance BodyTalk treatments for chronic pain that Janet Galipo and I did in the Journal of Pain Management. We got excellent statistically significant reduction of pain intensity in long term chronic pain sufferers AND improvement in the associated emotional issues of anxiety and depression many patients face.  In the discussion section, we reference other distance healing publications if you want more data!

Let's get more esoteric

As practitioners, we train our focus. We observe and focus on the priorities within mind and body - liver detox, Qi flow in the Spleen meridian, anti-viral activity in Killer T cells, calming stress from a challenging relationship. Initially, it's easiest for most of us to do muscle testing and have the level of focus required to get great results with a client lying on a treatment table right in front of us. But, over time, the ability to get the intuitive information and focus on the client's priorities is beyond space and time. We are accessing a blueprint of the individual in a more optimal state of health, an alternative quantum probability for their energy systems that is in better harmony and balance. And we can access and observe that blueprint from anywhere. The observer effect in quantum physics doesn't require a proximity of observation.

Some things are just empirical

Although I started out as a scientist skeptic, I now know distance healing works, because I have personally experienced it myself many times (it's awesome!), and have observed that my family, friends and clients see real changes of physical, emotional and spiritual health with distance treatments.

The practical aspect of distance healing is sorely needed TODAY, not tomorrow!

Ready to try it?

Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones But Words Can Kill Me

Words can Kill

Do you remember that old children’s saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me”?  We all thought we were so clever to say it to another child calling us names on the playground. But in reality, words can be devastating and the truth is, "Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones But Words Can Kill Me"! Read on to experience what I mean.

Have you ever noticed how great you feel when someone pays you a compliment?  Especially the unsolicited one, the unsuspecting one, the one that takes you totally by surprise and causes you to beam!  Bask in that compliment for just a moment. Close your eyes and engage all the rest of your senses as you recapture that day when someone made you feel overwhelming joy because of a compliment.  Isn't that a wonderful feeling? Notice your heartbeat, breathing and overall feelings in your body. For the full effect, you should do this for about 30 seconds to a minute.

Now, think of a time when someone blindsided you with a negative comment or statement.  Perhaps it was today, yesterday or thirty years ago. It might have been your parent, spouse, child or best friend.  Think about that comment. Close your eyes and engage all your senses as you replay the scene. What were you wearing?  What time of year is it? Hear the words said to you and the voice in which they were said. How do you feel now? Is your body temperature changing?  Do you have a pit in your stomach?

Go back to the positive comment you remembered from your memory banks earlier and close your eyes again and reflect on all the senses being engaged around that beautiful happy moment, engage all the senses again. Now doesn’t that feel better? And did you notice how your body changed with the thought of it! Whew! I’m glad I asked you to do that so you could be in a positive state of being. If you didn’t notice much change between these two memories than you just need to practice more and become more aware of your body.  I teach others to learn more about this through my Awaken blog and ask them to read the fourth paragraph to get in tune with the kind of changes a body can make including immediate sounds and gurgles.

This is the power of your words and (thoughts). I learned about changing my words as a youngster from my mom.  She was very helpful in encouraging me and teaching me how to focus on speaking positive words. You may not be a reader of the Bible and that is your choice, but I found a scripture or two in both the old and new testaments to back up the importance of our words.  Well actually there are many, but I will share just these two.

Psalm 19:14 - May my spoken words and my unspoken thoughts be pleasing in Your sight.

Matthew 5:22 ...Carelessly call a brother ‘idiot!’ and you just might find yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell ‘stupid!’ at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill.

The first one is so specific that it even indicates how you don’t even have to speak them, but even thinking them can bring about a negative outcome.  Didn’t we just prove that in the exercise above? Did you notice a change in your body when reflecting on the two active memories? Maybe you need one more opportunity to drive this point home.  Have you ever walked into a room, didn’t need to hear a word that was spoken BUT, you could feel the tension? Of course, you have. So what is my point? How did you feel something that wasn’t “done” to you?  These are what one might call frequencies. All emotions have them. Some make you feel great; like happiness. And some make you feel awful; like grief or anger. And these frequencies lead to balance (harmony) or imbalance (disharmony) in our bodies.  And this leads to dis-ease. So the next time you are not feeling your best, look at your words and thoughts for the answer and analyze them or keep a diary of the words you speak to others, hear from others or more importantly; speak to yourself.

There are a number of opportunities to help you remove the negative impact of words spoken over you. The most important thing is to watch your own self-talk and treat others as you want to be treated.  But, I get it, sometimes you have a creep in your life; someone that has a really bad self-image and they don’t feel better unless they cut you down. If you are in a position to, I recommend that you remove them from your presence. You might also find that our emotional questionnaire is a helpful tool which allows you to determine what kind of supplement support can assist you with these feelings. They require Bach Flower Essences and you can purchase these from our office and we can dropship them to you as needed.

For more severe feelings around a negative event we recommend three options we use in our practice and you can learn about these in the following two video links: BodyTalk - Healthcare Designed by the Body, Emotional Regulation using TiPi or read about our third option using essential oils called Aroma Freedom Technique.

For more information on how active memories or negative feelings can impact your health, I encourage you to book a free consultation to discuss any of the methods we engage above or call us at 972-712-0892.  We also invite you to attend our free webinars held monthly.  Registration is required for each one you choose to attend.

What Does Lynn Do? BodyTalk and More!

BodyTalk:BodyTalk Logo

Lynn facilitates the interaction between the mind, body, and spirit, specifically the ways in which emotional, mental, social and spiritual factors together can directly affect health. She looks beneath the surface of symptoms to find the more fundamental causes for the conditions.  This modality uses the latest in medical research including microbiomes and epigenetics.

She offers no diagnosis or prescription, just re-establishing communication between the brain and body so to speak. In a session, she uses neuromuscular biofeedback, which is similar to applied kinesiology. By understanding that your body has an inherent knowledge of itself, Lynn is able to quickly and easily ask your body what communication circuits have become compromised and in which order these lines of communication need to be re-established for the fastest possible healing process to occur (Priority Based Health Care). She then uses light tapping on the head and sternum to reestablish channels of communication within the body. In turn, this activates the brain and helps to facilitate the body's own ability to restore and maintain its optimum health.

 Naturopathic Doctor:

Lynn emphasizes prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process.  Naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods.

Lifestyle Wellness Coach:

Lynn helps her clients find the motivation and tools to achieve their physical and emotional health goals. She guides them down a path that enables them to make better choices that fit their lifestyle. She empowers her clients by helping them recognize and facilitate their innate potential to create their desired life. Work-life balance is a large part of achieving their desired life.

Hormones Happy?

Mind Body | Mind/Body

Hormones

Hormones Happy?

How many of you hear the word hormone and immediately think of women having Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) or suffering from hot flashes due to menopause?  That is where most of our minds will go, but hormones, of course, incorporate male hormones as well, such as testosterone and many others. The reality is, hormones not only impact functional aspects between males and females, but rather govern hundreds if not thousands of functions throughout the body such as body temperature, weight, hunger or sending energy to your muscles when you need it.  Let’s look at the definition of the word.

Definition of a hormone. 1 : a product of living cells that circulates in body fluids (such as blood) or sap and produces a specific often stimulatory effect on the activity of cells usually remote from its point of origin; also: a synthetic substance that acts like a hormone. 2: sex hormone.

As you can see, the sex hormones are secondary to the role the rest of them play, but our society has made it about women and mood swings so that is what we will focus on in this article as well.  Search my site for hormones to learn about other aspects. Because of this expanded definition, I prefer to call them communicators. We all have them and in order to feel optimal health whether it be a balanced thyroid, healthy eating habits or pain-free menstrual cycles these communicators are responsible.

Many women experience a lack of proper balancing of hormones throughout their lifetime.  It may look like menstrual cramps, pain, bloating, headaches, fibroids, polycystic ovaries, night sweats and a whole host of other symptoms.

So, how do they get out of balance?

There are a number of factors to look at and one or two you may find surprising.

  • Food Supply: There are a number of hormones in many of the foods we eat today.  They are given to cattle and poultry, just to name a few, to allow for a faster-growing cycle.  In theory, that may sound like a good idea to feed the population and make sure we have enough food for all.  But think about it, would you have wanted your own body to grow at a faster pace than nature intended it? There are huge implications to this, but the most important for this topic is that YOU also get a shot of hormones each time you eat foods enhanced with growth hormones.  Hmmm. Now, how might that disrupt your body’s normal balance?
  • Extreme Diets:  Women athletes find this when they follow very strict eating plans and perhaps limit the proper ratios of proteins, carbs and especially good fats.  The good fats are so important for healthy hormone production and preparing the body for a developing fetus. This would also be the case for someone that suffers from disorders like anorexia.
  • Toxins:  Chemicals you ingest, inhale or have absorbed topically can block or lock down communicator receptor sites that disable the communicator’s ability to signal properly to an organ, endocrine or body part.
  • Hormone replacement or birth control pills: These hormones are given for a specific purpose, however, taken for long periods of time they can basically stop the body’s normal production of hormones once the therapy is stopped. The body may have a difficult time resetting due to factors above or stress.  I recently spoke with a compounding pharmacist regarding the hormone pellets under the skin. She cautioned that she has seen a number of incision sites bleed and found that if the wrong balance is given to the woman at the time of insertion, she is left with that balance of hormones for three months!
  • Stress: all hormones work in unison to create balance.  Did you know there are a number of stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, CRH, and ACTH?  These all work in conjunction to help your body get out of a jam and do it as quickly as possible.   This “Fight or Flight” response was designed to help you run from serious danger like a threatening tiger in which case the outcome might be death by tiger eating.  Too many people stay in this stress mode too often for things like a work deadline. The stress response process was designed for life-threatening events. Unless you have a very mean boss or client, a missed deadline does not mean you will DIE!
  • Epigenetics: Environmental factors such as many of the above; toxin exposure, pharmaceutical therapies, stress and even active memories not only yours but those of your ancestors can impact your hormone balance. It is not uncommon for an ancestor to have been the one exposed to a toxin, called an endocrine disruptor, and have receptor sites blocked and then this information gets passed down through the generations on the deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA.  Ever feel like you are not yourself during that time of the month?  Well, maybe it’s not you after all, but rather a hormone trait from an ancestor! Now that explains a few things, doesn’t it?

The good news is there are things you can do to address these concerns.

  1. Always do the very best you can to buy organic foods and avoid foods made with added hormones such as poultry, eggs, beef.  Most stores today will carry products that indicate they are grown without these hormones. By the way, this means milk also!
  2. Avoid extreme diets. The building blocks of all cells are proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.  You need all of them (in proper balance). Eat well-balanced meals including proper ratios of proteins carbohydrates and GOOD fats for your blood type and metabolic profile.  For more information on this and to receive guidance on the right meal plan for you, contact us.
  3. Avoid chemicals that you may have in your home for cleaning.  Chemical fumes can get in your lungs by inhaling them even indirectly and chemicals can also uptake into your bloodstream by walking in bare feet on floors cleaned with toxic floor cleaners. This means your children and pets also! There are many toxin and chemical free products on the market now.  Check these out.
  4. Detox your body systems with one of any of these amazing detox programs; 28 Day Detox Balance, 10 Day Female Vitality Program, 10 Day Inflammation Program or 10 Day Blood Sugar Program.  Learn more about the toxins you are exposed to in these videos.  Use this Toxicity Questionnaire to determine how many toxins you personally have been exposed to in your everyday world.
  5. Be careful with bio-identical and other forms of hormone therapy (i.e. Birth control pills, hormone pellets etc.)  BodyTalk sessions can you help you identify the reason your hormones are not communicating properly.  It is usually an emotional stressor or active memory or a chemical you were exposed to such as a food you ate at age 10. You may not have any idea where or how the imbalance occurred or where to start.  The good news is, BodyTalk sessions can zero in on the issue easily and assist your body in correcting the imbalance quickly by releasing the toxic emotion or chemical. And even if the toxin was inherited through DNA, an epigenetic BodyTalk session can assist you in making progress quickly, often without the use of hormone replacement therapy.  All sessions can be performed in person or by using video teleconferencing such as Zoom. Book your session today.

So take charge of your hormone health!

Happy days are here again and happy hormones are the key!

Priority Based Health Care

Priority Based Healthcare

Priority Based HealthcarePriority Based Health Care

Does your doctor determine your most important health priority before coming up with an action plan?  Or does he/she take note of your symptoms and treat you like the last person with the same list of symptoms?  Many people that have chronic health conditions or conditions that the doctors are unable to diagnose may feel like they just are supposed to live with their ailment.  That is not necessarily the case when your health care is priority based.

So what is Priority Based Health Care and what does that mean to you?  It is looking at your health on all dimensions regardless of symptoms and then allowing the body to tell us it’s priority for healing.  Pretty cool, huh?  So how does the body do this you might ask?  Well, our body is talking all the time…are you listening?  Aches, pains, congestion, emotional ups and downs, gurgles and twinges are all signs of your body talking.  You just need the right person that can help you translate.

In sessions, if your desired ailment to get worked on does not surface,  it is NOT your body’s priority to be worked on or cleared.  That is priority based health care.  It does not mean that you do not have that ailment addressed in the session, it just means it was not the root of your ailment.  Picture a dandelion in your yard.  You don’t cut the top off, do you?  Of course not, unless you want to see it surface again!  The same is true for your health and wellness.  If you want to see the ailment no longer surface, you have to get to the root.

Through a science called Applied Kinesiology (a.k.a. muscle testing), your body can tell you the frequencies that help bring it into balance.   Your body has the ability to detect when a positive or negative frequency is near it.  The right side of your neck may be hurting and through the session, we will determine that it all started about the same time your 14-year-old teenager decided to make wrong choices and the two of you got in a disagreement and your anger grew. You know, the proverbial pain in the neck!

Applied kinesiology (AK) is a method to determine priority based on the belief that various muscles are linked to particular organs and glands, and that specific muscle weakness can signal distant internal problems such as nerve damage, reduced blood supply, chemical imbalances or other organ or gland problems. Practitioners contend that by correcting this muscle weakness, you can help heal a problem in the associated internal organ.  They key is how you correct that muscle weakness.

I don’t actually need science to prove this.  Don’t you feel good when someone pays you a compliment and feel bad when someone insults you?  Our words, our emotions, the food we eat, the supplements we take etc. all have either a positive or negative impact (frequency) on our body.

As a trained practitioner in priority based healthcare, we will use tools like muscle testing to get to the root of your ailment whether it is a painful neck, jittery stomach, high cholesterol or diabetes.  One never knows where the root cause of an ailment may take us but it is nice to know that your body has all the answers you need for healing, you just need to listen!

To learn more about what your body is trying to tell you, book your session today.

The Clock Begins: Lung Time 3 AM - 5 AM

The Clock Begins: Lung Time 3 AM - 5 AM

In my prior article titled, Is Your Hose Kinked?” I referenced the 24-hour body clock. If you missed this article click on the link provided. You really do have an internal clock that carries out specific tasks within the body at the same time every day. Almost like your body’s “in-box” of daily routines. And, like your day at the office, your body may have an emergency or two that gets thrown in your day. Something you didn’t plan. This could look like a food you are allergic to such as wheat. Your body still needs to work on its regularly scheduled daily task but eating the wrong foods or food you have an intolerance to may cause your body to have to go deal with that “emergency” instead of completing the scheduled task. This is how blockages, build-ups and stagnation can cause an organ’s meridian pathway to be clogged. This can lead to a host of issues.

This month we will start with an exercise for the lungs. The lungs start your body’s internal clock activities each day from 3 AM to 5 AM.  The lungs have a number of key functions, but there may be some you are not familiar with such as:

  • help to circulate the blood
  • distribute fluids and blood to
  • nourish the skin, generate grief
  • help you release the past
  • give you the ability to speak with a clear voice.

Now, these may not sound like functions you have heard of before and that is because they do not come from western medicine philosophy. We are looking at them from an energy perspective.

If you are someone that wakes up at night during 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., your lungs may be telling you something. Some of the signs of lung patterns that may reflect irregularities in lung energy or stress are:

shortness of breath, sweat easily, tiredness, cough, tickle in the throat, weak voice, dry mouth, dry skin, aversion to cold, someone who worries, is anxious, overworks to keep busy or can’t lie down, asthma, someone that has excessive consumption for greasy or spicy foods.

As mentioned previously, there are a number of ways to address an imbalance in the lungs one of which is an exercise called Qi Gong, similar to exercises like Yoga or Tai Chi. Click on the link for an exercise unique to the lungs. It may take a few days or even a couple of weeks before you notice a change, but give it a try and see if you start sleeping through lung time or are at least able to fall back asleep if you do wake up briefly. Click here for the Lung Exercise.

So maybe you are thinking, “I wake up multiple times during the night, what am I supposed to do if it is not during 3 am – 5 am?” Don’t worry. We are going to do a series on this so rest assured we are going to cover the other organs in the body. However, if you are waking up multiple times a night, you will benefit tremendously from my prior video release called the Tahiti Vacation Relaxation Technique.

Another way to address energy imbalances is through BodyTalk, a modality I use in my practice. A BodyTalk session can be done in person or remotely (over the phone or live video conference such as Zoom). Learn more about BodyTalk and schedule a session.

Preparing for Surgery?

Preparing for Surgery?

Ah yes, the end of the year, that time when you consider the surgery you put off all year waiting until things slowed down in your schedule.  Now your deductible is met on your insurance and the holidays are upon us so you better fit it in!

Some of you may think that as a natural health practitioner I am against surgery. Ironically, my Dad was a surgeon. He helped a lot of people because of what he was trained to do. I do not have anything against surgery especially after a serious trauma like a car accident where seconds and minutes count. The items below are best addressed before surgery, but there is much we can do to bring the body back to balance if you’ve already had your procedure.

Several things can play into your surgery that can leave a lasting impact for months and even years.  A few have been noted here with some thoughts on how to properly prepare.

  1. Effects of Anesthesia
  2. Impact on your gut microbiome
  3. Impact on your skin microbiome
  4. Scar tissue and adhesions
  5. Back pain
  6. Emotions out of balance

Here are a few things to consider in order to make your surgery as smooth as possible.  First, be sure to follow all the advice of your surgeon’s team.   They have their reasons for doing all the things that they do to make your surgery experience as positive as possible. Don't take chances, but know that there may be some after effects.  The good news is these can be addressed as long as you prepare in advance.

  • Effects of Anesthesia and CO2:  Thank God for some tools that help keep the pain levels down. The days of biting a bullet are over, however, these tools can leave a lasting effect.  Be prepared and be patient. You may feel groggy or foggy for more than just a few hours after surgery. This is normal, generally, and drinking a lot of water will help your body flush some of this from your system. I highly recommend a technique we use in our BodyTalk Access class called Body Chemistry. It is specifically designed to help the body deal with the effects of intolerances to chemicals etc. If you don't know the BodyTalk Access routine be sure to check out the next class offering. You will find yourself using it for many more opportunities than just surgery;  including possibly surgery prevention depending on the issue.  However, in the absence of the full BodyTalk Access routine knowledge, try the first technique taught in the class called Cortices.  This is safe to use before and after your procedure.  You may also find when you have abdominal type surgery, that CO2 is used to pump up your abdomen so the surgeon can have a clear view to work. These can be very painful after surgery especially when the bubbles get lodged in areas like the clavicle or collarbone. Preparing for these in advance is easy with a BodyTalk surgery prep session with a trained practitioner. In these sessions, your practitioner will prepare your body to dispel these gases in a more efficient manner. The sessions can be performed in person and long distance via video conference as well.

  • Impact to Gut Microbiome:  Generally after surgery, depending on the kind, you may be required to have a good bowel movement before you leave the hospital.  And if for any reason you were required to take an antibiotic pre or post-op, it's important for you to know that the antibiotic can actually impact your gut movement for well up to a year beyond the surgery.  This may mean your regular bowel activity looks different, but generally, regular bowel activity is best at 3 bowel movements a day.  It's important to consider a good probiotic and good fiber after surgery. And easing your digestive system into action is the best way to start.  Consider a smoothie for breakfast in the mornings including a good probiotic and good fiber. Both of these can be recommended by my office. It's important to note that not all probiotics are the same. And you will want to switch them up about every 2 to 3 months or they can actually have a negative impact on your microbiome. Another good way to move your microbiome to a good space is through the Body Chemistry technique in the BodyTalk Access class previously mentioned.    One of the best things to move your gut microbiome to a better space is a BodyTalk session with a trained practitioner who understands how to prep your body prior to your surgery.

  • Impact on your Skin Microbiome:  Ah, the Hibiclens.  It's a special soap that helps protect you from bacteria that your body could be exposed to while in surgery at the hospital. I recently came across this when I had a surgery. The good news is I had BodyTalk Access and a knowledge of how to improve the good critters that keep my skin in good working order to protect my body.   This soap is very powerful and will strip your microbiome of anything and everything. Again, all for the right reason. The best thing I recommend is to get plenty of vitamin D from the sun, consider support for your skin such as Vitamin D supplement (gel) to put on incision points, essential oils such as Frankincense and Lavender several days after and perform the Body Chemistry technique from the BodyTalk Access routine. Not to mention BodyTalk surgery prep sessions.

  • Scar Tissue:  Scar tissue or adhesions are what can be left behind from a surgery. It's basically where skin on the outside or muscle and other tissues on the inside form together almost as if they were glued. If these are in delicate areas they can cause restriction in movement.  In a BodyTalk surgery prep session, we actually have a technique specifically for scar tissue and adhesions. It not only helps to address the look and feel of old scars, but it can also help your body better prepare for healing of new incision points and access points from your surgery.  Sometimes there can even be emotional concerns locked up in these scars.   Consider if there was a lot of emotional energy around a surgery that perhaps you didn't want to have. Perhaps the loss of a limb or other body part like a uterus. These kinds of incidents can leave a lasting physical and emotional impression and can be prepared for through a BodyTalk session with a trained BodyTalk practitioner for surgery clearing and consider obtaining some essential oils for supporting the incision areas and emotions afterward.

  • Back Pain:  If you have had any kind of surgery in the abdominal area lately, you may have experienced back pain that you did not realize could be related to your surgery. There are multiple energy pathways that run through your abdominal area which I call energy meridians. Many years ago, I had a procedure done through my navel. A few months later I started to experience back pain. It was then that I realized the surgeon cut through what is called the kidney meridian. I didn't know this at the time, but I now know to look for it in my clients. An adhesion can form near the point of incision and cut off the flow of energy through an energy meridian. This can link to other ailments in the body and to other organs and most doctors would not connect this simply because it comes from a different aspect of medicine.   So in my case, I worked with a certain specialist to have a procedure done through the abdomen. And six months later I started to have low back pain which would send most people to an orthopedic or back specialist. Neither of these two professionals are generally familiar with energy pathways. As I learned about energy pathways in my studies as a BodyTalk practitioner, I was able to connect that abdominal surgery scar to my low back pain.   As indicated above, when we cleared the scar blockage the energy could flow again and my kidney meridian was no longer impacted.  This meridian will impact your back among other areas. Before your next abdominal surgery, be sure to have a BodyTalk surgery pre and post session with a trained practitioner to prepare your body to make the most of a very invasive but sometimes necessary procedure.

  • Emotions:  Never underestimate the power of emotions. Consider that all your body parts are a community. In fact, there is a Bible verse that talks about one body many parts. While that is referencing the Christian Community, it also is a phenomenal correlation to the body. So if you consider that you're having some sort of abdominal surgery and perhaps an organ is about to be removed like the gallbladder.   Consider the other organs around the gallbladder. The gallbladder is being removed probably because it's not working well. Maybe it’s “stinky”.  Remember, it's an organ going bad. Some of its neighboring organs may want it to move on. Kind of like if your neighbor next door piles trash heaps without having them moved on to the city dump. While some organs may want the gallbladder to move on, other organs like the liver which is it’s partner organ, will actually grieve the gallbladder leaving. It's no different than two police officers that are partners for many years. They have each other's back. They help each other out in times of need. And then one day the gallbladder is removed. Do not underestimate the need for that liver to be supported; emotionally and physically.   I'm sure I don't have to say much about a woman who has had a hysterectomy. You cannot underestimate the power of her emotions going through that process of losing that body part. A body talk session can prepare the body for removal of body parts and the addition of new parts such as transplants of any kind. Again consider the neighborhood. The old neighbors need to prepare and welcome the new body part.   One might also consider essential oils and flower essences for emotional support.

The things you never knew to do that can make a huge difference to your overall response to your surgery, huh?  You may not have taken the BodyTalk Access class but you have an opportunity in the immediate future.  At a minimum, you have the Cortices technique to help your brain talk to your body parts more effectively to help the healing process.  But for the most optimal outcome, I recommend a BodyTalk Session which can be performed in person or remotely via video conference as I walk you through techniques to help your body better prepare.  Contact my office to schedule your appointment to prep for surgery or to help you get back on the mend after one.
