Brain Health

Brain HealthHave you ever heard we only use 10 percent of our brain power? This is a common myth believed by two-thirds of the population! This is a false assumption. While there may be moments, such as when we are at rest, that only a small portion of the brain is in use, we regularly use virtually every part of the brain and most of the brain is active almost all of the time. This is why Brain Health is very important.

The brain acts as the main command center for every function, thought, and feeling we experience. The average human brain weighs approximately 3 pounds and uses 20% of the body’s energy.

Most of the energy consumed by the brain is attributed to the rapid firing of millions of neurons communicating with each other. The rest is used for both voluntary and involuntary activities such as driving a car or controlling body temperature respectively.

Even though we know the brain is responsible for making us function, so little is known about how it works. So it's not that we only use 10 percent of our brain power rather we only understand 10 percent of how it functions.

The brain can be described in three categories: the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. Each section contains additional segments, such as, the cerebrum, the brainstem, and the cerebellum which are the primary components of the brain.

Other important segments include the thalamus, hypothalamus, and cerebral cortex.

Right or Left

The human brain is divided into the left and right hemispheres connected by a bundle of nerve fibers called the corpus callosum.

The theory behind right-brain, left-brain dominance, and different thinking styles was introduced by Nobel Prize winner Roger W. Sperry.

Each side of the brain controls the opposite side of the body, for example, the left brain controls all the muscles on the right side of the body, and vice versa.

If you consider yourself to think more logically, analytically, and objectively, you might be a left brain thinker. However, if you feel you’re more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective, you may be a right brain thinker.

As we age cognitive function may naturally decline. However neurological disorders are becoming more and more prevalent. When it comes to brain health, prevention of disease is key.

My goal is to share with you how simple lifestyle changes can be incorporated to improve your brain health and ultimately the quality of life which is why I invite you to watch my "Brain Health" webinar.

During this experience, you will learn about the brain functions, neurological disorders, and methods of maintaining brain health.

Awaken the Sleeping Giant Within You!

Do you feel like you are wandering through your life? Maybe you don’t know what direction to go in next? Are you confused? Unaware or what to do or where you need to go next? Have you ever noticed people walking through a parking lot completely unaware of the oncoming car as they walk down the middle of the aisle?

I work with clients in my practice daily and encourage them to get in tune with their world and especially their body. The lack of awareness you see in someone in the parking lot will also mimic the kind of awareness people have around their body. The work I do in my practice works best when my clients are in tune and know what they want out of life and then I facilitate helping them get to that goal; health, family, career etc.

My clients complete a questionnaire and I ask them; What are your goals? What do you want to achieve? What do you want to look different in your life? We then go to work and help their body move through blocks keeping them from that achievement; physical, emotional and spiritual. They then ask, “what should I expect now that the session is done?” I tell them any change is a good thing.

I ask them to look for things like this:

Change in appetite, change in bowel habits, change in sleep patterns, change in moods, change in relationships, change in body parts, flexibility, changes in breathing patterns, changes in energy levels, what foods are you craving, do you have an decrease in gas and bloating, do you experience more headaches, what smells do you want to smell or avoid, is your stomach gurgling more than normal, who did you blow-up at, who are you more patient with, who are you more angry at, who at your work quit for a new opportunity?

Get the point? The possibilities are endless. Any change is what I need you looking for to increase your awareness and awaken the possibilities inside you. And the more you become aware of how your body, God, the universe is trying to communicate with you the sooner you are on the road to recovery and no longer floundering in the parking lot wandering aimlessly without attention to your path or dangers around you.

I gave you a big list of things to notice because nobody gave me this list when I started my health and wellness journey. I had very talented practitioners all around me that would speak of their “big shifts and changes” yet never really explained to me or understood my complete and total unawareness of my own body. One of my very dear friends said to me recently, “You always seemed like you had a spirit that wanted to know so much in a body without an owner’s manual.” It was a great description. She added, “It’s more fun to communicate with you now because we never have to say a word.”

Test your awareness. Ask another person to do this exercise with you. Look at them for 20 seconds. Then ask them to leave the room and change 5 things; maybe the remove one earring, flip their hair a different way, roll up a sleeve. Then ask them to return and see what you notice in the next 20 seconds. Were you aware?

My clients need to be willing to awaken and notice these kind of changes in order for me to work with them. My observation is that the ones that have awakened their physical body are the ones that make the biggest shifts in their life to achieve their desires. And since I completely understand that not everyone has awareness from the get go, I am sharing a great tool, Awaken Essential Oil. I call it my awareness oil. This oil is to help you become aware of limitless potential. It stimulates right brain creativity, supports the function of the pineal and pituitary glands in balancing the energy centers of the body and helps us identify our true desires and how best to pursue them. It is the first step toward making positive life changes.

I don’t believe any of us set out in life to become unaware. I believe we are so bombarded by stimuli that we actually “check out” meanwhile our bodies are screaming at us until our attention is achieved when a serious health scenario hits. Awaken your sleeping giant and listen to your body guiding you to your fullest potential. Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Have I told you lately that the work I get to do in my practice absolutely fascinates me? My clients have such an amazing desire to want to see change in their world and together we create magnificent results.

The theme of my practice has always been, “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Yes, the one by Dr. Seuss! I especially like the cover with the little character sitting on top of what looks like an inverted vortex. Ever feel like your world was caught up in a vortex?

Just ask my clients. They will tell you that where we end up or what we work on to address a health ailment is RARELY on their radar screen. In fact, I often feel bad for allopathic medicine practitioners because they are not taught the connection between the physical body and the rest of what makes you who you are. You know, the full you; spirit, soul, body, mind, will and emotions. That is why so many leave a practitioner’s office and never really seem to have good answers.

It would not be unusual for someone to experience a painful left ankle and for us to determine that it links to their kidney or perhaps a fear around losing their mother. I have worked with many that have bladder incontinence issues and we had to work on generational emotional hurts. These were not things my clients directly created, yet ailments passed through to them on their DNA. That is where epigenetics comes in. It may surface much later in life. All the body needs are the right circumstances set in motion or the right swamp to grow the disease or ailment.

I have worked with incontinence issues in people that have active memories of being bullied or exposed to high amounts of fear in their life. Once we allowed the body to clear those memories from that body part (usually the kidneys), their incontinence issues cleared also.

I have a number of resources on my website that will help explain this phenomenon, but it comes from the science of applied kinesiology for starters and then sprinkle in some acupuncture and don’t forget to add that our creator created one amazing body.

Let’s talk about applied kinesiology (AK). This is the science that I was first introduced to when I started my health journey. Some people refer to this as muscle testing, but the true AK practitioners know it is far more than that. In this science, they study how all the muscles in the body are related to different glands and organs so if one or the other is experiencing an imbalance it could lead to an imbalance in a totally unrelated (or so it seems) part of the body. Most people have been exposed to this concept through reflexology where the body parts are represented by areas on the feet.

An example. Let’s say your low back is hurting. It could be that your psoas muscle is not hydrated enough. You might experience kidney infections because this muscle relates to the kidney. You might also experience fear issues like I mentioned above and the kidney loves to store fear. This person might experience a power drain or uneasiness between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. And they might think it’s just because they had a long work day. Your low back requires that psoas muscle to be in good working order because it attaches into your hip. When you are not drinking enough water, that muscle is compromised and causes you to start engaging other muscles to compensate. Back to the low back pain and thinking it’s because you had a long day at work. Eventually, your shoe store expert starts to recognize that your shoe soles always wear out on a certain side of the heel. Hmmm. I just described 90% of the population that is dehydrated! And did anyone connect that this all related to low back pain? Isn’t that amazing? Learn more about how the kidney can impact your world and follow the links to other organs you may want to learn more about.

Your body is built on thousands of connections like this and every body part relates to other body parts so if one is out of harmony, others will be out of harmony also like an orchestra. Now, I’m sure the theme of my practice makes a little more sense. “Oh the Places, You’ll Go!”

To learn more about the underlying issues of your health conditions, set an appointment so you can discover all the places you’ll go to bring your body back to balance. All sessions can be done in person or live via video conferencing.

What are others saying about BodyTalk Access?

Posted In:
Uncategorized

It was the first time I was in an emergency situation like that, and having just had your workshop, the first thing I did was started tapping the head and heart simultaneously, while others were trying to get her attention, lying her down, etc. It wasn’t until we had her down on the floor that I began to get really concerned because she wasn’t pulling out (her eyes were open but unfocused and she had no muscle control)… I had forgotten (in my stress) to hold the positions on the head, I was just tapping consistently on head and heart. When we got her to the floor I switched to her ears and within a couple of minutes she regained consciousness. I am grateful to have had both of these techniques to fall back on even tho I didn’t perform the Fast Aid correctly. I hope because of this experience that I will be calmer and more centered should that ever happen again.

DB – Tyler, TX

Approximately 6 weeks after taking Body Talk Access I was able to experience first hand what a huge benefit taking this class was. I was traveling to Haiti and on my return flight from Port au Prince a lady had huge pains on, what looked like, her appendix area. The flight attendants asked if there was a doctor on board and if so if he/she could go to the back of the plane. I automatically thought that the First Aid technique might work on alleviating her pain. So after I saw that the doctor left the passenger, I walked back there and told the flight attendants that I would like to try this tapping head & heart technique so that the brain could send messages to the affected area in hopes to relieving her pain. Both flight attendants and passenger in pain agreed. The first round of tapping the cortices, the passenger had a cold forehead. Second round, while she held the area affected, I had noticed that her forehead was warmer. Third and fourth round the head was hot. I was very excited to feel this change. After I was done the passenger said she felt much better. The flight attendants asked if I was a Therapist….and I told them “no.” But what an advantage to know this!!! Folks, this made a huge difference to this poor lady in pain. Even the doctor on board could not help her. Paramedics were on the runway when we landed, so I don’t know what happened later, but I do know that her pain was drastically lessened by providing this Fast Aid Technique!!!

– AG – Garland, TX

My daughter sprained her ankle early in a soccer tournament, we tapped out the Fast Aid Technique once and she was able to resume play for the rest of the weekend.

-Cathy- Plano, TX

I watched a calm come over my autistic son in seconds while the cortices technique was performed on him. This in invaluable!

–Brent – McKinney, TX

What a miracle. I had a Charlie horse on my thigh for over two weeks from a tennis injury. I was getting ready to set an appointment with my Dr. when my friend tapped out BodyTalk Access. It was better within a couple of hours.

–Tammy – Plano, TX

I used to get some kind of cold/flu every season. Last year, I started tapping out the Body Chemistry technique each time I encountered someone that was already sick. I have not had a cold since. What a value and savings to not have to go to the doctor!

– Marie

Lynn’s work is amazing! One afternoon I called her because I gotten had a severe, sudden onset bladder infection with no warning whatsoever. Not only was there bleeding, but small blood clots as well. She did a distance session on me and I quite literally felt the shift. The infection and all its symptoms were completely gone!

AND

I took my 10-year old daughter to see Lynn for a long-standing respiratory issue. Every year, just about the time school starts, she would begin having massive sinus drainage and eventually it would turn into a respiratory infection that would require antibiotics. The condition would get beat back, but never really clear. It was a cycle of drainage, infection, antibiotics. By the time we left Lynn’s office, my daughter’s sinus drainage and cold-like symptoms were totally gone. It has been 2 weeks now and she may blow her nose in the morning, but if so she requires only 1 Kleenex, not the 10 or 12 she was using before. She has no more drainage during the day and no longer believes she has allergies, which is what people kept telling her.
