Brain Reboot Needed

Brain Need a Re-Boot? Reboot the Brain

Everyday Wellness in Ten Minutes

Did you know that your body has innate wisdom to help you function each day?  It looks like this; your body heals after surgery or cutting your finger, your immune system supports you through colds and flu and you don’t even need to tell it what to do.  How would you like to re-boot your brain?  Read on...

Your brain often cannot perform its everyday maintenance duties because it may have too many stressors hitting it.  How many people do you know that deal with stress at work or home, traffic stress, emotional stress?  These are just a few items, but imagine adding in holiday stress, financial stress, or illness of a loved one.  Consider items like the telephone, cell phone, text messaging, email, instant messenger and social media outlets all vying for your attention.  I don’t know about you, but just the mention of these things can make one tired and exhausted.  That is an example of an average day and what your brain is facing.

There are so many stimuli coming into our mind/body that our brain is not always able to see the forest through the trees. It is days like these that cold/flu, sprained ankles, headaches, dizziness, allergies etc., set in or are more prone to attack the body.  It’s not that these issues would not normally have happened, but it is your body’s ability to respond that makes the difference.

What about the occasional sprain on the soccer field or while hiking.  A health issue can surface at any time and in any situation.  Are you ready?  What about if disaster strikes and finding a medical professional is difficult?

Your body has an innate ability to heal but, often through the everyday stressors of life the body loses its ability to do this. It can be taught how to “turn it’s healing process back on” when a health crisis hits just by knowing how to reactivate your brain to focus on the ailment.  Learn how to “tap out” your Cortices to help re-boot your brain.

What if you could provide your body support to enhance all body systems for further reinforcement?  Look no further, you only need a six-hour course called; BodyTalk Access.  This course is designed for the layperson that wants to address self and family health care. It is also great for teachers to focus students, coaches for sports performance and for maintenance of health such as structural body realignment to avoid the occasional ache or muscle pain.   Support your immune system when the ailments of winter or back to school/work immune stressors hit.  How about an amazing Fast Aid technique that could assist you in time of need regardless of the circumstances.

To learn the tools necessary to bring healing and maintenance to your body in brain balancing, stress balancing, hydration, body chemistry (microbes, allergies, intolerances) and structural rebalancing not to mention an amazing Fast Aid technique for those moments when accidents happen, BodyTalk Access is the class for you.

Heart Disease – Will we ever see the end of it?

Heart Disease – Will we ever see the end of it?

Start today!

By taking two steps you can begin to resolve the two main causes of heart disease 1) beriberi of the heart and 2) inflammation in the coronary arteries.  Both are brought about by the standard American diet (S.A.D.) and the medical low-fat diet.  They are nutritional deficiency diseases and both can be resolved with whole food or whole food supplements which include concentrates as well as glandular and organ extracts.   When we say whole foods, we mean foods that are alive such as fresh fruits and vegetables, not cooked foods.   And if you are not getting these foods in your diet daily, then supplementation is a must for you.  It is proven time and time again that synthetic supplements do not have cardiotonic nutrients to effectively handle heart disease.  This simply means something to provide the heart well-being.

Cardiotonic nutrients

Cardiotonic nutrients contain the ingredients which, when lacking or deficient, cause heart disease.  There are two steps to healing heart disease 1) switch to a Mediterranean diet and 2) Take four simple supplements that contain cardiotonic nutrients.  They are Cardio®-Plus, Cataplex® B, Min-Tran®, and Blue Ice™ Fermented Cod Liver Oil.

If you have serious coronary artery inflammation, blockage, or plaque, consider adding more Vitamin K2 and increased levels of bioflavonoids, vitamin P, rutin and more.  To get these nutrients, you would need to add X-Factor Gold™ High Vitamin Butter Oil and Cyruta®-Plus.  For most people, the four basic cardiotonic nutrients above are life changers and all one needs.  Don’t wait until you have a blockage or heart attack.  Take action and change your life today by contacting me.

Eye Can See Clearly NowEyes

The Secret to my Daily Routine

I happen to be one of those people that like to take advantage of my “services” provided through my health coverage.  Since I have access to eye exams, I choose to get them as regularly as they are available.  A few years ago when I was at my eye doctor, I found myself being uncomfortable with the thought process that I was supposed to “accept” that my eyes were getting older.  I spend a lot of time taking care of my health and I didn't really appreciate the comment.  This prompted me to stay away longer than I should have because I just didn't want to hear the negative talk.  Age just simply means that I have been on this earth longer, it does not mean that I have to accept the “norm” or average way of others just to be “in the crowd”.

I finally set up my most recent eye exam.  I met the new doctor in that location and began to share my concern over the difficulty I was having with my eyesight.  I shared how I had seen a significant change in my eyes in the prior 12 months.  She began to go over my daily routine with me and we noticed how the eye strain correlated with my increased need to be on electronic devices in the last year.  It was not uncommon for me to be in front of my computer for at least ten hours a day with barely time to eat.  Not to mention increased family duties found me on my cell phone and text messaging multiple times throughout the day.  That is when my new eye doctor shared some very key advice that I will share with you now.

She explained about eye strain and that technology is severely working against all of us, especially children.  There are a number of muscles in the eye and they are what help our eyes focus and move in all directions needed.  Picture yourself looking at the tiny little screen on your cell phone to send a text message.  When your arms are holding that phone close to your face, your eye muscles are converging and contracting tightly which leads to fatigue.  She compared it to squatting, the deeper the squat, the deeper the strain on the leg muscles.  So, the more your arms are bent and holding that phone close to your face, the more your eye muscles are doing a deep squat.  This motion for a long period of time will lead to eyestrain.

My eye doctor recommended the following as my new daily routine.

  1. Take more breaks throughout the day such as at least 20 minutes off the computer per hour, ideally, 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.  I realized that I had several conference calls each day.  During those calls, I did not always have to look at the computer so I could look out the window and start to meet this requirement of being “off the computer”.
  2. Staring off into space at longer distances.  While on conference calls, I practiced looking away from the computer screen and looking out the window, but this time with more of a soft gaze.  I did not squint or cause my eyes to have to strain to see.
  3. Enhance the font on my monitor.  In fact, I used to use the laptop and also had a large monitor hooked up to it.  That day, I came home and forced the laptop screen to only project on the monitor so I was now viewing the larger screen.
  4. Expand the distance between my monitor and my eyes.  By only turning on my monitor, it forced a distance between the words on the screen and my eyes to be at least an arms distance away.  No longer was I straining those muscles in a hard “squat”.

I am pleased to report that my eyes are much happier and so am I.  And the best part is, I don’t wear those slightly magnified glasses near as much as I was before and in fact, I am able to pick up a book without the glasses at all.  These slight modifications made all the difference in the world.  Thank you, Dr. Gibbs!

How are you Aiding Diabetes?

How are you Aiding Diabetes?

Eating wheat and lack of exercise!

Diabetes is a man-made disease and it can be man-cured.  The cause of the disease is eating processed foods loaded with wheat, sugar and corn syrup and avoiding exercise.

To eliminate blood sugar problems, all you need to do is eat only real foods with lots of protein, avoid wheat and sugar and exercise!  That’s it!

Take this test.  If you are diabetic, you know your average blood sugar fluctuates.  Stop all wheat and any food with wheat in it (read the labels carefully). At the same time start exercising your muscles – hard, with a slow burn which is weight lifting.  After one month, compare your blood sugar readings with previous readings.  If you have not cheated, you will be amazed. Have your blood tested after a month on this regimen.  Now compare your blood glucose readings, your triglycerides and even your HDL/LDL ratio from past months.

Nothing pushes up blood sugar and keeps your blood sugar high longer than wheat.  Need more evidence, watch your sugar drop within hours after a slow burn exercise session.  Muscular exercise is the only time the body takes sugar out of the blood and into the muscles without insulin.  That defines the cure for Type II Diabetes.  The key is exercising muscles very slowly and to complete exhaustion.

A diet of processed-foods with lots of wheat slowly induces insulin resistance (also known as Type II Diabetes).  For three to six month you need to supplement with Vitamin B complex, chromium and other nutrients that make up what is known as glucose tolerance factor to normalize insulin sensitivity. Combine that with better diet and exercise over time and this will produce dramatic results in your blood sugar. The following are recommended products from Standard Process Cataplex GTF (1-2/meal), Diaplex (2-3/meal) and mineral supplement Min-Tran (2-3/meal).  Contact me today for your order.

Bladder Tissues and Issues

Bladder Tissues and Issues

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) or cystitis is an inflammation of the urinary bladder.  Sometimes the symptoms go unnoticed but here are a few you may recognize: frequent urination, burning sensation, pain in the pelvic area, cloudy or dark colored urine.

Generally the cause is bacteria or yeast.  They are considered foreign bodies and don’t belong.  the bacteria come from feces and the yeast will generally come from the vagina.  Both men and women can have a UTI.  Although microorganisms often get blamed, a UTI can occur due to a lack of healthy bacteria in the urinary system.

The inflammation caused by an unhealthy balance in the system can lead to stress on the prostate.  Men generally experience a higher prevalence of  of cystitis starting in their mid-50s and 60s.  Sometimes tissue weakness in the bladder can cause stress.  This stress leads to kidney and bladder stones and other abnormalities and increased risk for men and women.

There are many preventive measures to consider to avoid UTIs.

  1. Drink plenty of filtered or purified water.

  2. Consume unsweetened cranberry juice.

  3. Consume foods that contain d-mannose with freshly made juices such as blueberries, gooseberries, peaches, apples, green beans etc.

  4. Take a good probiotic.

  5. Eat plenty of fiber like nuts, seeds, fermented dairy.

  6. Avoid bladder irritants like alcohol, chocolate, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners,  caffeine, vinegar, tomatoes etc.

  7. Don’t resist the urge to urinate.

  8. Avoid tight fitting clothes.

  9. Eliminate food sensitivities.

  10. Women should urinate after sexual activity.

FemCo (MediHerb) Part 2

Posted In:
Articles | Diet/Nutrition | Newsletter | Supplements

FemCoIn part I we discussed some of the amazing herbs that make up the supplement Femco to assist ladies in balancing hormones.  In Part II, we teach you how to read those labels on the herbs from the Mediherb Company, the makers of Femco.

Mastering the Label: (How to read the MediHerb Label)

I have often felt badly for patients who don’t understand herbal terminology on the labels of herbal products. It is easy for companies to hide, or maybe it is better to say not disclose important information that helps a person make an intelligent decision in deciding whether a particular product is best for them and a good value. For instance, many labels do not tell which part of the herb is used as in the case of Echinacea. Traditional use of Echinacea is on the root and not the flowering tops. The flowering tops are less expensive and less effective in most cases whereas the root holds high levels of important compounds highly esteemed. Here are a couple of things you can do to master labels quickly.

If you take a look at the MediHerb Label for FemCo notice it contains 166.6 milligrams per tablet of Schisandra fruit. That is actually FemCo_Label166.6 mg of a 6:1 concentrate (if you notice to left). Notice below the Schisandra fruit 6:1 extract it says “from Schisandra chinensis fruit 1.0 grams. This means there is actually 1.0 grams of Schisandra per tablet. MediHerb achieves this by concentrating the herbs at 6 parts to 1 and putting in the 166.66 milligrams of this concentrate. The same applies for the other two herbs listed below as well. This makes the value and cost of this product a real winner. It is concentrated enough to get the job done with just a few tablets (typically 3/day) and cost effective. You might ask for a more in depth article from us on the topic if you have interest in more detail.

Conclusion:

If you are experiencing hormonal imbalance feel free to contact our office and we can set up a consultation with you to see if this fits your needs. It is helping many already and may be just the help you are looking for too!

FemCo (MediHerb) Part 1

- Curt G. Hamilton C.C.N., Medical HerbalistFemco

Part 1

A Female Tonic Extraordinaire!

This product has some very fast and amazing results for hormonal imbalances.  Curt does an amazing job of laying out the details.

Suggested Indication/Use: 1 tablet 3 times per day

FemCo is a fairly new formula released from MediHerb. It is designed to support health Female Cycles and offer support to women dealing with hormonal imbalances. Many women think it is normal to put up with PMS, acne, dysmenorrhea etc. during their cycling years, but this is not normal. If your hormones are balanced and the body is processing them correctly you should have either no symptoms of PMS, or very mild. Understanding the factors that can influence hormone levels in the body can help.

Your body makes estrogen for example, and after it serves its function for that day the body now looks at it as a toxin to be removed. It is metabolized through the liver and then excreted in the urine or the stool where it is harmless. If a patient has constipation the estrogen can be reabsorbed and re-enter circulation throwing your cycles into chaos! So having regular bowel movements daily will help immensely. (If you need help here contact us as soon as possible.) Improving liver function is another area that should be addressed. There is a berry called Schisandra that has been clinically reviewed and shown to improve Phase I and II Liver clearance. We will discuss this more in the sections below.

Another area many women in cycling years deal with is Cystic Acne, PCOS, Hirsutism or facial hair, etc. This can be a sign the women is either making too much testosterone or her body is converting estrogen into testosterone in high levels. Two herbs have historically been invaluable in helping to alleviate this conversion, White Peony root and Licorice root.

White Peony:

Is part of this new herbal blend and may be enough on its own to help correct this imbalance. Adding a little Licorice in severe cases may be suggested and can be a nice support for building adrenal health at the same time. Note: Licorice is contraindicated in hypertension.

Schisandra fruit:

The berry of a vine that climbs up the wall in China. They are used in Chinese Medicine for a number of ailments including Asthma, improving liver and immune function. Schisandra is considered an adaptagen. Think of an adaptagen as a natural substance from nature that increases your resistance to disease, stress, increases energy. It is also used to increase stamina and endurance. Being a berry it is a food.

One of the most profound things I have noticed over the years is its ability to sooth the mind and spirit. Many patients report that they can tell a difference in one or two doses and love this herb. This is nice, as the hormonal balancing effects may take a bit longer, yet a patient often reports they feel better quickly. Of course, we cannot make any claims about its ability to treat any disease or illness it can be a blessing to have such an herb.

Finally, remember I mentioned how important it is to improve liver function? Well, Schisandra is one of the best known to man.

Shatavari root:

An Ayurvedic herb in Indian tradition. It is a form of Asparagus. It’s used to nourish the female reproductive organs and helps build healthy blood. The name translates to “she who possesses a 100 husbands”, referring to the power to procreate attributed to this ancient herb. Think of this herb when you want vitality!

All Stomach Acid is not the Same

All Stomach Acid is not the SameLow Hydrochloric acid

By: Lynn Morales, ND

Its true!

There are good stomach acids and there are bad ones.  The question is which one will make your digestion operate smoothly without pain, gas, bloating, acid reflux and a host of other items.

All stomach acids are not the same.  Some acid  is actually causing food to putrefy.  That would be rotten protein or meat.  Some acid is actually rancid.  This means the stomach has no means of digesting fats and they are literally rotting in your gut.  Some acids are evidence that you are not breaking down or processing your carbohydrates.  This is called fermentation.  None of these sound very good yet at least one of these is most often the real culprit behind acid reflux, gas and bloating.  If these symptoms are happening to you, that is exactly what is happening.  that is gross isn’t it.

So why do our doctors so often tell us that we have too much stomach acid?

The reasons are the three forms of rotting mentioned above.  It is actually a lack of good acid that is causing your body to create bad or unhealthy acid.  Hydrochloric acid and pepsin are the good acids I am speaking of and they are very necessary for our body to properly digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats.  When we eat a lot of processed foods and don’t have the proper enzymes to break our food down our stomachs are unable to produce enough good acid to break down our food.  So picture a steak in 98.6 degree heat.  How long before it starts to rot or putrefy?  Not very long.  So imagine that steak sitting in your stomach and not being digested easily.  It begins to putrefy and THAT acid is what is backing up in your system.  Doesn’t that make a lot of sense?

So, there are a couple of options to combat this issue that are very simple.  One is a tablespoon apple cider vinegar 15 minutes before meals.  If that makes it worse, you could have an ulcer.  For best results, contact me for more information on my 10 day digestive cleanse and see what a difference just 10 days can make.
